Performance analysis for a new focal anti-resonant gearbox vibration isolation system

Abstract

To reduce rotor wing’s dynamic loads transmitted to a helicopter fuselage, a new focal anti-resonant gearbox vibration isolation system was proposed. Through establishing the parametric model of this system, its load transmission characteristics were analyzed. The influences of spring plate stiffness, and inertial mass etc. key parameters on the system’s modal frequencies and vibration isolation efficiency were discussed. In order to validate this model and make further investigation, a new focal anti-resonant gearbox vibration isolation system was fabricated and tested on ground. The calculation results agreed well with those of tests. The test results showed that after this new system is installed on a helicopter, its fuselage vibration isolation efficiency reaches 80% in X, Y and Z directions, respectively; the study results provide a new way for vibration isolation of helicopters in active service and those in research.
