Micro-vibration isolation performance of a clamped-clamped buckled beam quasi-zero-stiffness isolator

Abstract

Micro-vibration in spacecraft is difficult to isolate with traditional passive isolators due to its low amplitude and wide frequency band features. A clamped-clamped buckled beam quasi-zero-stiffness (QZS) isolator has features of high static stiffness and low dynamic stiffness, and it avoids gap and friction in revolute joints, so it is suitable for micro-vibration isolation. Here, its dynamic characteristics and vibration-isolation performance were studied. Firstly, the zero-stiffness condition for the buckled beam with a positive stiffness and negative one parallel connected was derived. Secondly, effects of system damp and disturbance amplitude on the system vibration-isolation performance were investigated using the harmonic balance (HB) method. Finally, the simulation with the software SIMULINK was performed to validate the system’s micro-vibration isolation performance. The results indicated that a clamped-clamped buckled beam quasi-zero-stiffness (QZS) isolator's performance is much better than a linear system’s; the former can effectively isolate micro-vibration.
