Natural frequencies of simply supported beams with straight unequal pre-stressed reinforcements

Abstract

Based on the basic theory of structural vibration,the theoretical calculation formula for natural frequencies of a simply supported beam with straight unequal pre-stressed reinforcements was deduced using the free vibration equation of beams. Taking a certain bridge as the engineering background,modal tests for two pre-stressed concrete hollow slab beams of this bridge were conducted,and modal analyses were done for these two tested beams with the finite element (FE) software ANSYS. The results showed that measured values,FE analysis values and calculation values using the theoretical calculation formula agree well with each other; the deduced formula is reasonable and accurate to calculate the first two-order vibration frequencies of the simply supported beam with straight unequal pre-stressed reinforcements. Finally,the effects of pre-stress and eccentricity of pre-stressed reinforcement on natural frequencies of a simply supported beam with straight unequal pre-stressed reinforcements were analyzed using the theoretical calculation formula and the FE model.
