Effect of metallic wire materials characteristics on the fatigue properties of metal rubber

Abstract

The single austenite metallic wire was chosen to the metal rubber fabrication, combined with the materials characteristics, to improve the fatigue properties of metal rubber in vibration environment.The metal rubber fabricated by two different wire materials was investigated by the comparative analysis of the wire materials properties in fatigue vibration acceleration tests.The effects of the materials characteristics on fatigue properties of metal rubber were discussed.The results showed the dynamic average stiffness of metal rubber decreases with vibration time and its variation was affected by the inner wire material property and the contact state of spiral coils.The analysis of microstructure and phase reveals that the single austenite metallic wire material possessed excellent toughness.The loss of metal rubber stiffness and mass made by austenite metallic wire was minimum reduction.However, the wire with the deformation martensite and retained austenite was opposite.It is concluded that the single phase austenite metallic wire is necessary for the metal rubber to obtain higher fatigue properties of metal rubber.
