Modeling and testing for a hydraulic inerter

Abstract

Structure and working principles were expounded for hydraulic inerter with exhelical tube in this paper. The mathematic model of the inerter was established and simplified considering structure friction, fluid stress lose, and inertance. Also, a series of inerter tests were layout, such as stroke test est. The validity of the inerter’s mathematic model was verified through comparing simulated value and test combined with the analysis of damping force and inertance. It is found that under high frequency stimulating the inerter can be treated as a component with a damper multiples a inerter.
