Abstract

Based on a semi-analytical method of train-bridge interactions that considers the separation between vehicles and bridges, this study presents an improved physical model that is modelled with thirteen degrees of freedom to analyze the riding comfort of trains more precisely. In this new method, all of the passengers in one coach of the train were treated as three mass blocks coupled on the coach of the train. In the numerical analysis, dynamic responses of the train and dynamic responses of the passengers under different train speeds were computed in vehicle-structure dynamic analysis program with different random rail irregularities. And then, these two dynamic responses were compared. The results show that the rail irregularities affect the vertical acceleration of the passengers and the train, and differences of dynamic responses between the train and passengers existed, these differences have effect on judgement of the riding comfort of the train moving over a bridge.
