An improved tunnel blast simulation method and its verification

Abstract

In order to predict and analyze effects of tunnel blast vibration on adjacent structures, numerical simulation of tunnel blast is necessary.Here, based on the tunnel blast feature of many blast holes being initiated simultaneously,aiming at spatial distribution of blast load and blast shock wave attenuation law considering multi-hole blast load superposition and differences of stress attenuation indexes in different blast areas, an improved tunnel blast simulation method was proposed to make numerical simulation as close as possible to the actual engineering situation.Vibration monitoring was conducted for the first step blast engineering of large-span transition section of Beijing-Zhangjiakou high speed railway’s Badaling Great Wall Station to analyze effects of blast vibration on blast side of the 8th branch tunnel.The measured data were compared with the simulation results using the improved tunnel blast simulation method.Through this study,it was shown that an improved tunnel blast simulation method is introduced,and its correctness is verified with actual measured data;it can provide a certain reference and guide for future blast numerical simulation of tunnel construction.
