Abstract

A lumped parameter model for simulating random vibration of a multi-segment towed cable system was established. On the basis of numerical verification, wave spectrum was used to generate random vibration at mother ship’s towing end, and frequency spectral features for motion response of the multi-segment towed system were simulated contrastively under multiple working conditions. The results showed that increase in added mass coefficient of towed bodies in cable segments can reduce spectral energy and gain better vibration isolation effect; increase in cable segments and towed bodies on the traditional two-segment system can also gain better vibration isolation effect and reduce higher frequency vibration transfer, but there is a long-period motion transmission effect.
