Shaking table test method for equipment-structure dynamic interaction

Abstract

Here, shaking table test method for equipment-structure dynamic interaction was investigated to reasonably evaluate the aseismic performance of equipment and structure.Firstly, adopting the branch substructure method, the equip-structure dynamic interaction motion equation was deduced.A shaking table real-time substructure test method for equipment-structure dynamic interaction was proposed.With this method, the equipment was taken as the test substructure loaded by the shaking table and the structure was taken as the numerical substructure calculated using simulation software to jointly conduct shaking table tests and be able to consider effects of equipment-structure interaction on the equipment’s aseismic performance.A 4-floor steel frame equipment-structure interaction scaled model was designed, and the shaking table real-time substructure test and the traditional whole shaking table one were conducted for the model under different earthquake excitations.Comparing the two test results showed that they agree well with each other; the validity of the proposed shaking table real-time substructure test method is verified; ignoring the equipment-structure dynamic interaction affects the actual seismic responses of structure and equipment, especially, the latter is affected more significantly.
