Influences of contact stiffness on the time and frequency responses of a brake pad in a frictional system

Abstract

Equations of motion of a disc-pad coupling brake system considering the Stribeck-type friction force were established.A simulation procedure was adopted using the finite difference method and the Runge-Kutta method to deal with the moving interactions.This paper was focused on the pad’s tangential response, revealing the influences of the contact stiffness on its Hopf bifurcation.Factors of frictional dynamic principle, mechanism of stick-slip flutter were discussed by the time-frequency analysis.
