Tests for inner pressure fluctuation features in an oblique flow pump with high ratio rotating speed

Abstract

The pressure fluctuation data of seven pressure monitoring points from inlet to outlet was measured at different flow rates to investigate the characteristics of pressure fluctuation in high specific speed mixed-flow pump. The pressure fluctuation time domains signal at different flow condition was collected by micro-pressure fluctuation sensor, and the frequency domains characteristic analysis was carried out.The experimental results indicate that the amplitude of pressure fluctuation from the inlet of the impeller to the outlet of the guide vane decreases in turn, meanwhile the periodicity of the pressure fluctuation also decreases.the pressure fluctuation at impeller inlet is periodical, and the pressure fluctuation amplitude is maximum, while the impeller outlet is affected by the the tip leakage vortex and low frequency and large-scale vortices formed by the flow separation at impeller inlet, the periodicity of pressure fluctuation at low flow rates is weakened. The pressure fluctuation at guide vane inlet is periodical only under the rated conditions 1.0Qopt, while the pressure fluctuation amplitude is minimum at guide vane outlet and affected by the number of guide vanes and low frequency and large-scale vortices possibly generated by the stalls and reflux vortices at impeller outlet, showing a weaker periodicity of the pressure fluctuation at low flow rates. In addition, the main frequencies of pressure fluctuation at impeller inlet, impeller outlet and guide vanes inlet is blades passing frequency. and the higher order harmonics of blades passing frequency exist at the inlet and outlet of the impeller. But the main frequencies of pressure fluctuation at guide vanes outlet is changed under different flow rates.
