Abstract

Due to its feature of different longitudinal structure and lateral one, a long round bellow type airbag isolator is suitable for some places of rotary airbag isolators being not able to be installed. According to its structural characteristics, its effective area expression was obtained with model analysis and theoretical derivation. Combined with the gas multi-variate equation, the vertical stiffness expression for a long round bellow type airbag isolator was proposed. According to obtained expressions, factors affecting the isolator’s vertical stiffness were analyzed. In order to verify the correctness of the theoretical model, the corresponding prototype was fabricated to conduct relevant static and dynamic stiffness tests. Test results showed that the relative error between theoretical calculation results and test ones is smaller; the proposed theoretical model has a higher accuracy.
