Model for the construction of 2D road roughness in consideration of the coherence function between different wheel tracks

Abstract

Based on the harmonic superposition method for numerical reconstruction of road roughness, considering the power spectral density(PSD) and the coherence function between different wheel tracks, a method for constructing road roughness with additional harmonic disturbance on the basis of single wheel track harmonic superposition component was proposed. The method ensured that the PSD of new wheel track coincided well with the standard PSD, the same as the coherence function between different wheel tracks. Therefore, a simulation model of 3D road roughness considering wheel track’s coherence function was built. The 2D road roughness simulation based on MATLAB showed that the self-PSD of different wheel tracks almost coincided with the standard PSD, and the coherence function between different wheel tracks was in good agreement, which verified that the simulation results of the 3D road roughness had high reliability.
