Effects of ball size errors on radiated noise of full ceramic ball bearing

Abstract

Aiming at problems of full ceramic ball bearing having larger stiffness, ball’s radial deformation being smaller than its size errors and the traditional model calculation accuracy being poor for its radiated noise, a dynamic model for a full ceramic ball bearing was established considering ball’s size errors. Based on the sub-sound source decomposition theory, simulation analysis and test verification were conducted for its radiated noise characteristics. Results showed that the theoretical model considering ball’s size errors is more correct for calculation of its radiated noise characteristics; ball’s size errors causes friction and impact between components of full ceramic ball bearing aggravating, its radiated noise increasing and radiated noise circumferential distribution showing obvious heterogeneity; changes of ball diameter difference amplitude and ball diameter difference ratio can affect interaction between balls and rings, and obviously affect radiated noise circumferential distribution; this study provides a theoretical basis for design and radiated noise analysis of full ceramic ball bearing, and a reference for improving acoustic characteristics of full ceramic ball bearing.
