Influence of blasting vibration on cumulative damage of surrounding rock

Abstract

To study the cumulative damage effect of tunnel blasting on surrounding rock, the ground penetrating radar was used to detect the surrounding rock damage during tunnel blasting excavation.Based on the characteristic of a short-time non-stationary random signals, the Hilbert-Huang transform (HHT) method was used to process the radar signals to remove interference and extract instantaneous parameters that can effectively reflect the damage characteristics, thereby obtaining a more intuitive image of surrounding rock damage area.The damage area could be divided into minor and severely damaged areas based on the difference in instantaneous amplitude.The results show that blasting can directly cause a large number of severely damage to the near area.The farther area is less affected by direct blasting, and almost no new damage is generated, but the minor damage area that already exists could turn into severely one, and within 60 m from the explosion, the more the number of blasting, the greater the cumulative damage effect would be.
