A study on crack and motor-void identification of ballastless track slab using strain modal

Abstract

An identification approach of damage such as slab crack and motor-void of ballastless track was proposed considering the strain modal is sensitive to damage and the strain of the slab is easy to be measured.Theory and analytical method of slab strain modal was studied.The feature of slab strain modal was analyzed using a numerical simulation method.The 1st order strain modal shape of the slab is curved obviously in the damaged region.The index of strain modal curvature difference (SMCD) was put forward and its computational method was established.Identification ability and the method of SMCD for slab crack and motor-void of ballastless track was studied.The results show that SMCD is a typical index of damaged ballastless track, and the crack magnitude can be measured in term of F-norm of SMCD matrix.
