Abstract

Bolted joints are applied in engineering structures widely.Nonlinearity and uncertainty are two important features of bolted joint interfaces.The uncertainty of the normal dynamic characteristics of bolted joint interfaces was studied in the paper.The uncertainty of the natural frequencies and modal damping ratios of the structure under different assembly conditions was obtained by sine-sweep vibration experiments, and the joint interfaces were simulated by a finite element model with thin layer elements.The intervals of the elastic modulus, Poisson’s ratio and loss factor of the thin layer element were identified by combined use of the principal component analysis (PCA) and the uncertainty experimental results of the bolted joint system.The identified intervals of the natural frequency and modal damping ratio are in good agreement with those by experiments, which provides a new way to the dynamic modeling of joint interfaces and the uncertainty study on similar bolted joint structures.
