A study on distribution coefficient of a flexible photovoltaic support cable based on an eccentric moment wind load distribution model

Abstract

To estimate the wind load distribution on a supporting cable for photovoltaic panel (PV), a series wind tunnel tests was carried out to obtain the wind pressure coefficients on PV module via rigid model pressure measurement.The rule of the wind load distribution was calculated with the consideration of the moment induced by nonuniform wind pressure distribution.The results show that the extreme wind loads on the PV module with small inclination occur at the angle of attack of 0°, 30°, 150° or 180°.The wind load on the PV module in the middle is larger than that on adjacent ones.The distribution of wind load on the module shows an obvious gradient along the wind, and the wind load on the windward side is larger than that on the leeward side.The eccentricity in the length direction of the PV module is greater than in the width direction.Based on the nonuniform wind pressure distribution, the wind load model with consideration of moment was proposed.The pressure coefficient and eccentricity of the proposed model were given.The wind load distribution coefficients of the upper and lower cables in cable supported photovoltaic panel were suggested.The proposed model and distribution coefficients can be used in designing in flexible supported solar photovoltaic panel.
