Influence of aeroelastic effect on the crosswind-induced interference effect of super high-rise buildings

Abstract

Based on a series of wind tunnel tests on aeroelastic models and high-frequency force balance rigid models of square-section super high-rise buildings, the interference effect of another neighboring identical building on the crosswind response of a super high-rise building at different reduced wind speed was analyzed, and the influences of aeroelastic effect on the interference factor at different reduced wind speed and envelope interference factor at a range of reduced wind speed were evaluated.The mechanism of aeroelastic effect acting on the interference effect was discussed with the aerodynamic damping ratio curves and acceleration response RMS value curves in selected typical model cases.The results show that: the aeroelastic effect enlarges the interference factor and the envelope interference factor at high reduced wind speed; the calculated envelope interference factor at the approaching wind speed lower than the vortex-resonance critical speed is somewhat conservative when the aeroelastic effect is neglected.
