Abstract

The technological advantages of percussion drilling have been widely recognized, and now, it is also the main way to improve the rate of penetration in the field of oil and gas wells drilling.The self-oscillation percussive rotary tool is a successful application in rate of penetration improvement by coupling static-dynamic loads to exert its characteristics of high rock breaking efficiency.Based on the characteristics of the self-oscillation tool and previous field experiments, a self-oscillation rotary percussion drilling model was established to analyze the output percussion force and its influential factors such as self-oscillating frequency, amplitude,and weight on bit.The results show that the frequency and amplitude of the input self-oscillation impact force will not affect the final vibration balance of the output penetration force, but the amplitude is proportional to the amplitude of the input self-oscillation impact force and inversely proportional to the input frequency.The weight on bit will not affect the frequency and amplitude of the output percussion force, but the larger the weight on bit, the higher the increase of the percussion force balance value relative to the initial value.It is concluded that larger weight on bit can effectively improve the impact effect of the output penetration force.Although the penetration coefficient will not affect the final equilibrium value of the percussion force, the increase of the penetration coefficient will lead to more intense fluctuation of the penetration force and shorter time to reach the final equilibrium value of the penetration force.
