Testing and analysis of fundamental natural vibration period of RC shear wall structure in Shanghai based on pulsation method

Abstract

Here, aiming at the fact of the empirical formula of the fundamental natural vibration period of shear wall structure in the current code of our country being based on measured data of structures with a height of less than 50 m, the onsite dynamic performance tests were conducted for 62 RC shear wall structures with a total height of 45-90 m built in Shanghai based on the pulsation method.Fundamental natural vibration periods of these structures in horizontal- longitudinal and horizontal-lateral directions were identified.Measured data of 60 structures were used to do regression analysis, and the fundamental natural vibration period regression formulas in horizontal-longitudinal and horizontal-lateral directions based on the structure height-width ratio and “power height coefficient” were deduced, respectively.Accuracies of the two empirical formulas were verified with measured data of the rest two structures.The results showed that the total height of RC shear wall structure has the most significant effect on its fundamental basic natural vibration period; the fitting effect of the empirical formula based on “power height coefficient” is better than that based on the structure height-width ratio.
