Static performance analysis of alternated cable dome with single and double brace struts

Abstract

In view of the problems existing in the traditional cable dome structure, such as easy slack of notochord, uneven meshing, weak circumferential stiffness, an alternated cable dome with single and double brace struts structure was proposed. The Midas model was formulated to analyze the mechanical characteristics of the structure under the action of full-span and half-span uniformly distributed vertical loads, and the influence of fundamental parameters of the structure on the internal force and displacement was further explored. The results show that the alternated cable dome with single and double brace struts structure reveals superior static performance and large overall stiffness,the cables are hardly subjected to slack simultaneously. The recommended ranges of initial prestress and rise-to-span ratio were given, which provided a reference for the engineering design and application of the alternated cable dome with single and double brace struts structure.
