Abstract

On the basis of lubrication theory, a model of cylindrical flow around a stay cable with double helix was established by COMSOL software, and the wind pressure coefficient and wind friction coefficient of the stay cable were obtained. Ignoring the vibration of the stay cable in the cross-wind direction, the aerodynamic force of the stay cable with double helix under different cross-sections is obtained by changing the wind direction, that the vibration time history curve and frequency spectrum analysis of the stay cable are also obtained. The results show that the existence of the double helix suppresses the oscillation of the rivulet on the surface of the stay cable, so that the cable aerodynamic changes in the cross-wind directions gradually decrease, accompanied by the aerodynamic oscillation frequency is much greater than that of the cable stay. Therefore, the wind-rain-induced vibration of the cable is suppressed because of the possibility of resonance between the rivulet and the cable is greatly reduced.
