Abstract

For the demand of on-orbit deploying of space-borne large scale membrane antenna, this project researches on high surface accuracy, large-scale, lightweight and large packaging efficiency membrane antenna deploying with the triangular retractable and collapsible (TRAC) boom, and the dynamic and kinematic behaviors are studied. Firstly, the unilateral deployable structure with the TRAC boom and a radial preload mechanism is proposed. One motor drives both the hub and screw. When the TRAC boom is fully deployed, the radial preload mechanism is triggered. Then, the kinematics and dynamics of the structure are simulated, respectively. Lastly, the prototype of the unilateral deployable structure is developed, wrapping and deploying are tested. The moment of the TRAC boom during wrapping process is collected, and the modal analysis of the whole unilateral deployable structure with complete wrapped TRAC boom is carried out. The accuracies of the finite element models and the feasibility of the unilateral deployable structure are verified. The research achievement will provide theoretical support for application of space large and lightweight membrane antenna with the TRAC boom in aerospace engineering.
