Mechanical test study on thermo-water coupled dynamic splitting of annular sandstone specimens with different inner diameters

Abstract

The surrounding rock of coal mine roadway is often in the environment of the interaction of groundwater and temperature. Since the dynamic tensile strength of rock is much smaller than its dynamic compressive strength, the failure of rock mass under dynamic load, such as excavation blasting, often depends on the dynamic tensile strength. Therefore, the dynamic tensile properties of warm-water coupled rock under dynamic load disturbance are worthy of further study. The circular sandstone specimens with different inner diameters (outer diameter 50mm, inner diameter 0-25mm) were subjected to warm water coupling. The X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) tests were carried out, and the dynamic splitting mechanical properties were investigated by using Split the Hopkinson Pressure Bar test device (SHPB). The results show that the coupling effect of warm water causes damage and deterioration of sandstone specimens, changes of basic physical parameters, and weakens the dynamic properties. Under the same loading conditions, the inner diameter of the ring sandstone specimen increases and the specimen is more prone to tensile failure. After the split, the half ring has extrusion fracture. When the inner diameter is the same, the coupling effect of warm water is more obvious. The breakage form of the specimen is analyzed from the Angle of energy dissipation.
