Failure modes and the explosion venting threshold of a single-layer reticulated shell under internal explosion

Abstract

The numerical simulation model was established by using the general finite element software LS-DYNA, and the failure modes of K8 single-layer reticulated shell under internal explosion were numerically analyzed and calculated. The influence of different parameters on the reticulated shell was studied. According to the damage characteristics of the enclosure structure under different working conditions, the failure modes of the enclosure structure were classified. The concept of structural explosion venting threshold was introduced, and the explosion venting threshold under different failure modes was calculated. The research results show that explosion in the center of the structure is not conducive to explosion venting, and the connectors and the explosive quantity have a great impact on the failure modes of the enclosure structure. And the appropriate connector stiffness can make the enclosure structure generate the explosion vents first, so that the explosion responses of the structure and the damage degree of the main structure are reduced. The relationship between the explosion venting threshold and the stiffness of the connector is obtained, which can provide a reference basis for the anti-explosion design of the K8 single-layer reticulated shell.
