Test study on reasonable values of dual-blast hole spacing in axial slot blasting

Abstract

For the problem of reasonable value selection of the spacing between the double-hole blasting in axial slit blasting, based on summarizing the rock-breaking mechanism of slit blasting at home and abroad, indoor comparative blasting tests of polymethyl methacrylate（PMMA） with single-row holes and double blast hole spacing of 60, 80, 100, 120, 140, and 160 mm were carried out. By using the digital laser caustic line method, the crack propagation and caustic spot evolution process of blast hole slit blasting were presented, and the law of the influence of blast hole spacing and slit on the propagation of blasting-induced cracks in rock mass was revealed. The research results show that: with the increase of the distance between double blast holes, the crack propagation length and the main crack propagation speed of slit blasting show a trend of first increasing and then decreasing, while the change law of the stress intensity factor shows a complex oscillatory change law of first increasing, then decreasing, then increasing again, and then decreasing again. The cracks in the direction of the slit on the inner side of the double blast holes show a phenomenon of mutual "hooking", but the hooking phenomenon gradually decays with the increase of the distance between the blast holes, and the crack propagation speed of the main crack on the inner side ofthe double blast holes shows a phenomenon of speed increase at the beginning of crack propagation. Under the condition of slit, the specimen with the distance between double blast holes of 120 mm to 140 mm has the best directional fracture effect. The research results can provide a reference for the design of slit blasting parameters of thick and hard key strata.
